BMW comes with an original four year or 50,000 mile warranty, providing bumper to bumper coverage against defects in materials and workmanship. Because BMW does not include a powertrain extended warranty, it is a good idea to invest in an extended warranty of your own if you plan to drive more than 12,500 miles a year on average. Otherwise, you may be faced with making expensive repairs on your own sooner than you thought and as you know, a BMW can be one of the most expensive vehicles to repair. Wouldn't it be better to only be responsible for a low or no deductible, then to pay for repairs out of pocket?

Maintaining your vehicle is probably one of the most important things you can do to preserve the integrity of your BMW warranty. Refer to your owner's manual to ensure you perform the appropriate amount of maintenance. Keep your receipts as proof that you have adhered to your maintenance duties.
While you may think that repairs are always made with new components, this is not necessarily the case. Repairs may actually be made with repaired, manufactured, or reconditioned parts. However, what is important is that you take your vehicle to a franchised BMW dealership for repairs unless BMW has allowed an exception
If you are worried about maintaining the coverage that your BMW warranty provides, then try to avoid installing any aftermarket accessories to your vehicles. Aftermarket parts or components will not be covered by your BMW warranty. Also, if the failure of an aftermarket part or component causes the failure of an otherwise covered part or component; the normally covered part will not be covered. In the long run, it may be cheaper to purchase accessories and installation direct from the dealer.
