WarrantyDeals.com - Where auto warranty providers compete to give you the best deal FORD EXTENDED WARRANTY

Ford comes with an original warranty of three years or 36,000 miles, which ever comes first. The basic Ford warranty is a bumper to bumper warranty that covers your vehicle against defects in materials and workmanship. Most Ford models do not come with any kind of extended powertrain warranty. When you consider that most people finance their vehicles for 60 months or more, you can see how the original warranty leaves you exposed to many months of possible repair expenses. This is why purchasing an extended warranty has become such a popular option.

Ford Warranty and Maintenance
It is always a good idea to keep your receipts and record all of the maintenance that you have performed on your vehicle. Although, Ford may not deny a warranty claim due to a lack of proof of maintenance, if a lack of maintenance can be proven to be the cause of a failure, your coverage may be denied. Be sure to maintain your vehicle in accordance with the maintenance schedule outlined in your owner's manual to keep your Ford warranty in effect.
Manufacturers generally have two types of maintenance schedules that are referred to as normal and severe. Odds are good that you would fall under the normal guidelines unless you do one or more of the following:
  • a lot of stop and go driving
  • a lot of short distance driving
  • operate the vehicle on poor road conditions
  • live in a hot climate
  • mountainous driving
  • towing
  • Ford Warranty Repairs
Ford requires that you bring your vehicle into an authorized Ford dealership for repairs, except in an emergency situation. Most people expect that if their brand new car breaks, they will get brand new parts for their car repairs. This is not true, especially when it comes to a major component like an engine or transmission. Failure of these components is usually due to an inner part or parts of the larger component. It would not make sense to throw away a perfectly good engine block or transmission case just because of an internal problem. Your Ford warranty may use new, repaired, remanufactured or reconditioned components. Other components, such as radios and instrument clusters, are also replaced with repaired units.

    Using Aftermarket Parts
Aftermarket parts or components are not covered by your Ford warranty. In addition, if it can be proven that the addition of an aftermarket part caused the failure of an otherwise covered part or component, normally covered parts will no longer be covered. Even the most basic of accessories, such as an aftermarket alarm, radio or remote starter, are not covered by the Ford warranty. To fully understand the limitations of your Ford warranty, read through the documentation provided with your vehicle.

    Still have factory warranty remaining?
You may want to consider a factory backed plan. Factory backed warranties are usually more expensive then those from independant providers and your choices of repair facility may be limited.
