Since 2003, Isuzus come with a standard three year or 50,000 mile warranty, whichever comes first. This covers you from bumper to bumper. They also offer an extended powertrain warranty for seven years or 75,000 miles. If your Isuzu is a model year 2000 through 2002, your Isuzu came with a 10 year, 120,000 mile limited powertrain warranty. You should check your owner's manual to see if these powertrain warranties are transferrable. If your are the second owner, you may be out of luck. If you financed your Isuzu for 60 months or you are still left with several months without the full warranty. If anything other that the components covered under the powertrain warranty go out, you are responsible. It would be a good idea to purchase an extended warranty for this reason.

You must maintain your vehicle in accordance with the maintenance schedule
outlined in your owner’s manual to keep your Chevrolet warranty in effect. You will
notice that there are two schedules in your owner’s manual. These are generally referred
to “normal” and “severe” duty schedules. The rule of thumb is that if you do a lot of
stop and go driving, usually drive for only short trips, operate your vehicle on poor
road conditions, live in a hot climate, do mountain driving, or use you vehicle for
towing, you should follow the “severe” schedule. Otherwise, you can use the “normal”
schedule. It is a very good idea to keep your receipts to record all of the maintenance
you have performed on your vehicle. Although, Chevrolet will not deny a warranty claim
due to a lack of proof of maintenance, if a lack of maintenance can be proven to be
the cause of a failure, Chevrolet can deny you coverage. By familiarizing yourself
with the maintenance schedule in your owner’s manual, you may find that less maintenance
is required than some dealers would lead you to believe.
For manufacturer warranty repairs, you should go to go the Isuzu dealership, unless in an emergency. For non-warranty repairs and maintenance, it is fine to go to a reputable independent shop that you trust. They are usually less expensive than the dealership and provide their own warranties on work and repairs. If possible, verify that they use OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts for repairs (guaranteed fit and compatibility) or at least high quality aftermarket parts.
Aftermarket parts can void a warranty if they are the direct cause of a component failure. The warranty can only be voided for the component that is directly related to the function of the aftermarket part. Many people change their own air filters and sparks plugs without a dealer. The law protects the consumer's right to use aftermarket parts in their vehicles. But, if a local store installs your new alarm and causes damage to the factory wiring, your warranty may be voided. To be certain, it is best to have Isuzu install any aftermarket parts.
