A factory warranty for a Mercedes-Benz covers all items except those that are subject to wear and tear or replacement in the ordinary course of vehicle ownership. These types of items include wiper blades, brake pads, oil filters, etc. A powertrain warranty covers the major mechanical components. For a Mercedes-Benz, the basic warranty offers coverage for 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. There is no extended powertrain warranty. It is becoming popular for vehicle owners to purchase an extended warranty to protect themselves from the possibility of costly repairs.

A Mercedes-Benz warranty is only as good as your ability to appropriately maintain your vehicle. You can find a maintenance schedule outlined in your owner's manual that describes maintenance based on driving conditions (weather, towing, trips, etc). Mercedes-Benz has the ability to deny a warranty claim, if the cause of failure is determined to be negligence. Save yourself costly expenses by having your vehicle serviced regularly.
Usually repair work covered by your Mercedes-Benz warranty must be performed by a mechanic or an automotive service technician certified by Mercedes-Benz. Exceptions can be made in emergency situations. To avoid emergency breakdowns during a long trip, perform a pre-trip inspection by checking all vital fluids and by visually inspecting all coolant hoses and belts. Keep a record of all repair work done to your Mercedes-Benz vehicle.
Using aftermarket components or parts can void your Mercedes-Benz warranty if they are not installed by the dealership. If there are any questions or concerns regarding your warranty coverage, check your Mercedes-Benz warranty agreement or contact Mercedes-Benz directly.
