The factory warranty that accompanies a Saab vehicle is valid for 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. A Saab vehicle has no powertrain warranty. After the factory warranty has expired, any repairs fall on the vehicle owner unless an extended warranty has been purchased. If you consider the cost of a major repair, such as a transmission, you can see why extended warranties are popular among consumers.

There are several things you can do to save time and money over the lifetime of your car. Regularly scheduled maintenance is one of them. Your owner's manual can give you a wealth of information regarding regular maintenance. Following the directions in your manual will allow you the full warranty duration provided.
Usually repair work covered by the warranty on new cars must be performed by a mechanic or an automotive service technician certified by the manufacturer. Often, Saab will specify that the warranty work must be performed at a dealer's service center. Exceptions can be made in emergency situations. To avoid breakdowns during a long trip, prepare your car by checking all vital fluids and by visually inspecting all coolant hoses and belts. Keep track of all repair work done to your Saab vehicle.
If you install any aftermarket parts or components, you may void your Saab warranty. It is also important to consider the legality of certain aftermarket parts. For example, window tinting levels vary from state to state as well as emission laws and taillight and headlight colors. Just because an aftermarket part is being sold doesn't mean it is legal to install in your automobile.
